I want to share with you an amazing podcast. I love the Joe Rogan podcast. If you want to see interesting content discussed in a very open way, then this one will be great for you. I highly recommend it for you, if you like to challenge your point of view, learn new things or just want to crack up a lot.
Joe Rogan’s podcast has all of that. I get a lot of value from watching it, so I can imagine it can add value to your life, too.
This particular episode is with Kevin Hart. There were so many takeaways from this. Kevin Hart was for example talking about the shift of attitude in people. Being positive is not cool (anymore).
That’s very true. People like to complain these days. The bus comes 5 minutes late, people complain. If the coffee at a café is not hot enough, people complain. Other people like to join in on that complaining. I’m sure you can relate to that.
That’s why it’s very important to find people that are positive and surround yourself with like-minded individuals.
I don’t want you to feel negative, but I still wanted to share that insight with you.
Now let’s come to my main takeaway. Kevin Hart talks about the impact his mother had on him. Especially one principle she handed down to him. She said something like this: “Whatever you do son, finish it”.
He was not allowed to quit. Whatever he did, he gave his 100%. He finished it. Then he moved on.
Since his childhood he holds onto this principle. He is a very high achiever and has a lot of projects going on. Somehow he finishes them. He never quits.
If you start going to swim classes. Show up, follow through and finish it! If you want to start an online business. Show up, follow through and finish it!

THAT GOT ME THINKING. HOW MUCH BETTER WOULD MY LIFE BE, IF I ONLY START THINGS THAT I WILL FINISH. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT WASTE SO MUCH TIME DOING THINGS I DON’T PLAN TO FINISH. I WOULD FOCUS ON THE IMPORTANT THINGS.
RECENTLY I STARTED FINISHING THE TASKS STRAIGHT AWAY THAT POP IN MY HEAD. WHY DO IT LATER IF YOU CAN DO IT NOW? LET ME TELL YOU, FOR MOST OF MY LIFE I WAS NOT LIVING BY THIS APPROACH AND I STILL STRUGGLE WITH IT. IT’S NOT THAT EASY WHEN YOUR BRAIN IS WIRED THE EXACT OPPOSITE WAY. BUT GUESS WHAT? IT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
HOW MUCH BETTER WOULD YOUR LIFE BE?
JUST IMAGINE THE MENTAL BAGGAGE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO DROP. ALL THESE LITTLE TASKS LIKE CLEANING YOUR APARTMENT, WASHING THE DISHES OR MAKING THE CALL YOU KEEP PUSHING FURTHER IN THE FUTURE. HOW AMAZING WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU ACCOMPLISH ALL THE TASKS YOU KEEP PUSHING INTO THE FUTURE?
HERE ARE SOME STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO ACCOMPLISH THE THINGS IN LIFE THAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH:
- START SEEING THE FINISH LINE: KNOW EXACTLY WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO FINISH.
- STOP MAKING EXCUSES: YOU ARE ON THE HOME STRETCH AND DOING IT.
- START VISUALISING THE CELEBRATION: YOUR REWARD DESIRE WILL MOTIVATE YOU FURTHER.
- STOP LIVING IN FEAR: YOU CAN BREAK THROUGH WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK.
- START THINKING AHEAD: YOUR ANTICIPATION OF WHAT’LL COME NEXT WILL DRIVE YOU FORWARD.
